Five for Friday - August 1, 2014

Can you believe that August is here? I want summer to slow down! Well, the good news is that it's time to link up for another Five for Friday with Doodle Bugs Teaching!

I received my new classroom door sign from Vanda at Kasefazem. If you've been a follower for awhile, you might remember that she made my owl sign last year. Since I'm taking a break from the owls for awhile, I wanted something fresh and new, something without a theme that I could use year after year. I might have a giveaway for one of these amazing signs in the works in coming weeks…until then, you'll just have to admire mine!

I finally bought a circle cutter! It's been on my list of must-have items forever. My teammate and I have an awesome bulletin board in the works and I asked her what we needed. I may have said, "Please say that we need a circle cutter!" and she may have obliged. Also, I had a 50% off coupon for Michael's, so it was less than $10! Woohoo!

Shout out to summer days with my fur babies, Tucker and Brewster. One of the best parts of this summer has been soaking up their snuggles. They seriously crack me up on a daily basis. The other day I caught them in an almost-cuddle, which doesn't happen as much now that they are older. I had to snap a shot! Cats are so good for the soul!

I finally completed my organization of my giant collection of task cards. This has been a work-in-progress all summer. I will definitely devote a post to the process soon, but when I finally put the last set in the box yesterday afternoon, I did a giant Snoopy happy dance!

I shared M&M's and 7up on the First Day: Consequences, Writing and Learning About Your Students the other day on Facebook. Mary from Teaching With a Mountain View was looking for her followers to share different activities and when I shared mine, people loved it! She created a First Day of School for Big Kids Post and included my activity. Since I own pretty much every item Mary has ever created, I felt pretty honored!

And now, it's time to get the weekend started!

  1. First your furbabies are toooo cute! I have a dog and a cat and they are my kids for sure. I love the cute sign!

  2. I feel the same way about my cat this summer, too! I saw about your M&Ms and 7Up activity earlier this week! :) Have a great weekend!
