August Currently

It's time again for my favorite monthly link-up, Currently with Farley at Oh Boy Fourth Grade!

Listening

Though I'm disenchanted with the direction it has taken, I've invested years in to True Blood. When I lived in Washington I read the entire Sookie Stackhouse series. Naturally, I began to watch the show and though it's nothing like the series, I was enjoying it up until last season. This season is almost as ridiculous as the last, but I'm not a quitter, so I'm going to see this show through, even if it is just background noise while I blog!

Loving

I broke my promise to myself to stay out of my room until August but now that I committed a few days in July I'm feeling good about how much is already done. I still have to do little things, but I'm mostly ready to get down to the nitty gritty of lesson plans, which means I don't have to be totally stressed for these last few weeks.

Thinking

Oh yeah, my to-do list is about a mile long. Wait, what am I saying? I don't have one list, I've got about 15 random post it notes all over the house with things I need to do, things I need to buy, things I'm putting off, yada, yada, yada! It'll get done sooner or later, right?

Wanting

I love Goodreads because I've won some of their giveaways and I love books. Free books…even better! I've started one of the books that I won and I'm really wanting to get through it so that I can squeeze at least one more of the 100 on my shelf in! And no, I'm not a book hoarder, I'm a book connoisseur!

Needing

A month ago, I got really good at relaxing, which is not at all easy for me. It was nice. It was enjoyable. Then, all of a sudden, wham! I've got 1,000 things on the mind again. I know that I need to relax and take time for me away from blogging, Facebooking, and school prepping before it's back to business and relaxing becomes a foreign concept again.

1st Day You and Kids

It's August 1st, I'm not ready to talk about going back yet! Please summer, stay a little bit longer!

    1. That's the way that I look at it, too! I see so many people who are stressed when we go back because our professional development sessions are taking all day and they don't have time to set things up. Not this girl! :-)

  2. Your 'needing' is so true...if I don't take time to enjoy my break now, I'll complain about it later. :) Thanks for stopping by my blog! Enjoy your month of exploration and reading.

  3. I feel the same about getting into my classroom. I live in PA and the weather hasn't been that great...I'm sure it will be warm and beautiful in September (since I'm back in school at the end of August). I also love to read during the summer, too many things to do during the school year to find time to read for me. Have a great school year.

    1. I'm the same way! I can read a book in a few days in the summer, but if I attempt one during the school year, it will take me months to finish! That is, unless it's a children's book. Luckily I do enjoy reading those as well! Hope you get some beautiful August weather!

  4. I can't lie...I've been thinking about school a lot too. Right now I'm debating if I should bring my computer while away on my birthday weekend. Ahh! Too much to do!

  5. Isn't it good sometimes just to head into the classroom and get things done when there isn't anyone else at school. No one to talk to, just get in and do what you need to do and get out! Only 1001 things to do, I am sure your list is longer than that!

    1. The "no one to talk to" is exactly why I went in when I did. I swear that some days I waste hours just chit-chatting. Not that I don't love chit-chatting, but I also like to get things done!

  6. Your name totally caught my eye! I am Mrs. O too :) Teaching K no one can say my last name of Ogulnick so I have been Mrs. O for 18 years!!

    1. Woohooo for Mrs. O! I am Mrs. Ostrander, so Mrs. O is way easier, even in 5th grade! You've been Mrs. O a little longer though, I've only had this title for 6 1/2 years! :-)

  7. We can't get into our rooms until the week before we come back-maybe that's a good thing! :) I'm trying to get in that last read as well. I know I can do it!
