July Currently

July is here! It's my favorite month because it's the only entire month that I get away from the classroom and I always look forward to it's arrival. Now, if only time would begin to stand still…

It's time for my favorite monthly link-up with Farley at Oh' Boy Fourth Grade, the July Currently!

Listening: My cat apparently doesn't want me to sleep past 6am, so here I am, waking up with the morning news, listening to all the boats go by our window and the waves crash against the shore as each boat goes by. It's so peaceful. I love living on the water.

Loving: I've been on summer vacation since the 13th of June and I've been taking full advantage of it. I've spent most of my time reading and lounging by the pool. I've already read three books: The Tao of Martha by Jen Lancaster (awesome), Publish It by Stephen Markley (don't do it), and Heat Wave by Nancy Thayer (a decent, typical beach read). I've just started my 4th book, Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots by Deborah Feldman and it's really interesting. I love catching up on books during the summer!

Thinking: Again, I love July because I don't feel like I need to be in the classroom and I don't have a whole lot of plans so I can continue to move at my own pace. Ah, I love summer so much!

Wanting: We need good weather. My husband's family arrives this week and we want to hit the local water parks and amusement parks. This little tropical storm is starting to make me very nervous. I'm hoping we won't have to spend all of our days doing indoor activities.

Needing: I've been doing awesome with eating healthy and going to the gym every day, so going to amusement parks and water parks is going to be a challenge. I wish there were healthy options at all of these places. I will probably be eating the worst tossed salads of my life, but I am going to do my best to stay under my calorie count. I've lost 10 pounds since December and I'm extremely excited to be loving my body again!

4th Plans: Again, the water park or maybe the beach. If it ends up indoors, who knows? I'm sure we will come up with something!

Happy July! Enjoy every moment of this wonderful month!

  1. I can't manage to sleep past 6am either. I know as soon as school starts up again my body will somehow want to sleep past 6am. So jealous that you live on the water! :)

  2. I have to admit I wish I could wake up to hearing the boats pass by. I say that until my husband says let's live on a sail boat, I am thinking more of a beach house. I hope you have a great time with your husband's family! Have a great July!

  3. I wish I could wake up to boats going by. But, I can settle for trucks and cars. Hope you have a great time with your husband's family. Have a great July and a happy Fourth of July!

  4. Congrats on your weight loss! Amusement parks will definitely be a struggle especially since they usually don't let you bring food in. Stay hydrated!!! What amusement parks are you going to?

  6. I didn't realize you lived on the water! It's hard to keep everyone straight. At least you'll be doing a lot of moving at the parks on top of the food. Congratulations on the weight-loss! I can't wait to meet later this month!

    1. I actually did well, though I did have to enjoy some of those sugary lemonades because it was so hot! See you soon!
