May Currently

The time is flying by! I cannot believe that it's May, and that in just six short weeks I will be saying goodbye to the absolute best group of students I have ever had. But hey, I've got a 5-year delayed honeymoon to look forward to, so bring on June!

On that note, I'm linking up with Oh' Boy 4th Grade for a May Currently. Here we go!

Listening: When I was little, my grandfather always went to the horse races in Saratoga Springs, NY. That was his "guy time". We always watched the Kentucky Derby on TV. Needless to say, I've been watching the Derby ever since I can remember. I've always wanted to go. It's at the top of my bucket list. So today I spent my early evening watching the pre-race coverage, the race, and now the post-race coverage. I never fail to tear up during the race. I had the chance to tour Churchill Downs a few years ago when we were moving across the country. It was amazing. Hopefully one day I will be there in my big hat, cute dress, and adorable shoes that I already have picked out in my head.

Loving: After living in Washington state for two years, I no longer take the sun for granted. I LOVE that we get so much sunshine here in Virginia. I'm always happier when the sun is shining.

Thinking: I took the hubby out for an early birthday lunch today. It's our tradition to consume way too many calories at The Cheesecake Factory to celebrate. Well, after working hard to watch my calories, I allowed a cheat day today. Now I feel pretty icky, but it was scrumptious!

Wanting: I want to give a truly amazing end of year gift to my students this year. I have a lot of cute mini ideas, but I am hoping to come up with something huge that will show my students just how awesome they are. I'm feeling like I need to get it started soon!

Needing: After waiting 5 years for a honeymoon, I am looking forward to a honeymoon that embraces what we love most: wine and baseball. Our trip to California is going to be a blast, and I need want a new honeymoon wardrobe! I need San Fran clothes, Napa clothes, and baseball game clothes. And probably 5 suitcases!

Summer Bucket List: 1. With a military hubby who has deployed for more than half of our marriage, I have had to put off our honeymoon for 5 years. It's time to enjoy the honeymoon that we have been waiting for! 2. We're HUGE baseball fans, so another bucket list item of mine is to see all of the Major League Baseball Stadiums. We'll head to a Giants game and A's game while in Cali and we're going to head to Philly for a game this summer as well. That will be three more checked off the list! 3. Relax. I need many days by the pool with a good book. 4. I have 8 years and thousands of files that are just waiting to be shared with the TpT world. Now that I've got a hang on borders and clip art, I need to get some new items up. Maybe while I am by the pool working on my tan...

  1. I love your goal of visiting all the ML stadiums! When I was a kid, my family took a trip to see the Astros play in Houston. After college, I went to see the Braves play in Atlanta and Arlington. Hope you enjoy your trip!

    1. Those are two stadiums I haven't been to yet! We are thinking we might get to Atlanta next spring and I have a friend who is moving to Texas soon and we can cross off quite a few stadiums there! Thanks for visiting my blog!

  2. I'm a huge baseball fan too! I loved going to the Atlanta Braves games when I went to school at the University of Georgia. It was so nice being only an hour away from a great night of all-American fun.

    1. I haven't been to Atlanta yet, but I am close enough for a road trip to one! Before living in Virginia, we were lucky to be near Seattle, where we caught a lot of Mariners games since our favorite teams both played them (mine: Red Sox, the hubby: Yankees...a rivalry marriage!) Prior to that I was in western MA, just a couple of hours from Fenway, and was spoiled to be able to see my own team play at least a few times a year. I love, love, love baseball! Are you a Braves fan then?

    1. Tammy, I think you just gave me an excuse to buy new sweaters too :-) I have been told by a few people that it can be pretty chilly and since we are staying right on Fisherman's Wharf I'm thinking there will be quite a breeze! We're really looking forward to the whole trip!

    1. My husband loves your "Go Yankees". We're a rivalry marriage so though I was born and raised and spent more than 20 years in New York, I didn't become a baseball fan until I went to grad school in Massachusetts. You know where this is going...I spent a lot of time at Fenway and thus became a Red Sox fan. My husband holds strong to his NY roots and is a huge Yankees fan. We have a "rivalry room" in our home that is half Red Sox memorabilia and half Yankees memorabilia. It's actually quite fun to be in a rivalry marriage, especially when we are playing each other. Every marriage needs a little trash talking now and then, right? Thanks for checking out my blog!
